I thought Mansplaining was a Fawlty Towers reference, like when Basil says “Manuel, let me splain something to you” and pokes him in his eyes.

Perfect example?  John Mayer’s song Daughters.  Nothing like having a young man explain to women as a whole how we should all behave.  [rolls eyes]  “Mothers be good to your daughters” because “girls become lovers who turn into mothers”

I prefer a snippet of 1776:
“Sit down, John!  Sit down, John!  For gd’s sake, John, sit down!”
