a car horn that tootles “Solidarity Forever.”
Is it optimistic or pessimistic to suppose we might be passing more picket lines in the future?

The pessimism is about the necessity. Or maybe I just misspelled “realism.”

=v= Right around Easter I heard a French intern whistling Joe Hill’s “There is Power in the Union.” Then I realized it might’ve been the hymn that Joe based the song on. Which means you might have better luck finding a “John Brown’s Body” horn.

You know, I was thinking almost the same thing this morning, when I heard some French unions are in solidarity strike with the transportation union there; the stagehands and writers are holding fast here in NYC; and of course there are lots of other unions striking that the mainstream media doesn’t report on.
Are people getting that corporations will eat them alive unless they are in solidarity?
Why would it be pessimistic to think we might see more picket lines in the future?
