Oh Cripes

They’ve dug up Padre Pio.

Somehow it was always the creepiest of the pious creeps that orbited the parish church when I was a kid who were devotees of Padre Pio. Somebody call Mary Gordon; I bet she’d have an interesting essay or two about this.

Yeah really. At least in New Guinea, they smoke-dry ‘em first, and in Madagascar they wait till they’re dried out good and then throw them a party, which is a much better idea than worshipping.

i’m just not that into the bodies of ancient dead guys. 

there are a couple of rather unattractive mummies at the rosecrutian museum in san jose—wildly popular with the elementary school crowd, all of whom think they are spectacularly gross.

The article says the economy of the town revolves around this guy.  How weird would it be to grow up in that town?
