Why yes I am a Richard Thompson fan. He won my flinty heart again with this:
We saw him performing this one at the Celtic festival in Sebastopol last year. I caught myself singing along with the stanzas as well as the chorus… Sometimes things just sing themselves, you know? Even if you’ve never heard them before.

RT is one of the most brilliant songwriters in English over the past 30-40 years. Which is why I think you can sing along without knowing the songs beforehand—he taps into a deep place we all know but can’t ever quite pinpoint…
Hey, black swifts as we sagged the DC on Saturday up in Colusa county! twice, as we drove that Capay Valley road up and down, up and down—they were in the same spot.

Now, is it just me, or did the camera record several pretty women in the audience, but not a single woman wearing glasses? The only person wearing glasses, and the only man I saw, was sitting next to a woman without them who was the one in focus.
